Founded in 1958 as Barlow & Plunkett, Ltd., Barlow • Eddy • Jenkins, P.A. base their innovative architectural and planning firm upon a single primary principle: the design of the built environment must enrich human experience. Personal involvement by principals of the firm in design and construction observation has been a policy throughout the firm's history. In the decades since, Barlow Eddy Jenkins has turned that principle in to a commitment, compiling a record of pioneering achievements within our profession in Mississippi:
* We were the first architectural firm to incorporate an interior design division.
* We taught Mississippi's first life cycle cost analysis and value engineering schools.
* Our Federal Office Building was the first in the state to use fast-track construction; employing 15 prime contracts. This project was delivered on time and under budget.
* We introduced construction management services in Mississippi.
* We were the first to employ microprocessor based energy management systems to control air-conditioning and heating systems in our client's buildings.
* We are pioneers in energy-efficient design.
* We are a leader in computer aided design and development systems.
Barlow • Eddy • Jenkins, P.A. has particularly extensive experience in highly technical areas of design. Our firm designed Mississippi's largest medical facility, computer center and research laboratory.
We are home based in Jackson, Mississippi and occupy two adjacent office buildings near the downtown commercial district. Drawing on a diverse staff, the firm assembles teams of planners, designers, managers and other appropriate to each design problem. Project teams include the participation, as needed, of highly specialized consultants including structural, mechanical, and electrical engineers, cost estimators, specification writers, interior designers, landscape architects, programmers, graphic designers, acoustical engineers, food service specialists, audiovisual technicians, and others.
Our clients represent a broad range of interests, from federal, state and local governments and public agencies to schools, universities, investors, developers, and private business. We are especially proud that a high proportion of our clients have chosen to develop a continuing relationship by retaining our services for a succession of projects.
